About this fashion designer One could say that Tashia Senn and fashion have a long history together. As a child, she would dress up in her mother’s pearls and clothes, subscribe to all of the fashion magazines, and dream of the day when her designs would be featured in those very magazines. Fashion became her focus and passion and ignited an innate desire to create beautiful and wearable art. With eyes wide open, Washington, DC native Tashia Senn headed for Manhattan in 2005 to attend Fashion Institute of Technology where she received her degree in 2009. Senn also holds a degree from University of Pittsburgh in communication. Prior to FIT, Tashia Senn owned and operated a successful Model management company, Savvy Galleria Model Management in 2001. Savvy galleria brought attention to fashion in DC, established local models in the industry, and had over 40 employees. Once at FIT, Tashia Senn excelled at design. While still at FIT, she began getting her real world experience in the fashion industry. In both the summer and fall of 2006 she interned for the luxury accessory company Colette Malouf where she worked alongside the designer and design manager. Prior to interning, she freelanced as a fashion stylist and costume designer. She styled for special events at Macy’s Herald Square. Some of these events included the winter show hosted by Lloyd Boston; the annual spring accessory show featuring Coach, Swarovski, and 1928 jewelry; and the Ebony Fashion Fair trunk show. She designed costumes for urban theatrical plays and responsibilities included overall concept, fabrics, finalization, production, and purchase of garments. She also freelanced as a stylist and worked on several photo and video shoots for various artists. The endeavor most dear to her heart is her non profit organization Savvy Girl which began in 2004. The mission at Savvy Girl is to reach, assist, and transform young women, into dignified womanhood, through the fashion industry, life skills, entrepreneurial and personal development training. Their efforts will further delve into both privileged and under-privileged girls in an attempt to improve the abilities and life options for the young women through the industry she loves most “fashion”. Fall of 2009, will be the launch of Tashia Senn Collection, a fashion brand that captures the romance of life, by creating charm and luxury that place women at the center of attention. Senn is a ready-to-wear collection but maintains a custom clothing feel. The design philosophy at Tashia Senn is making perfectly timeless pieces for the wearer to look and feel beautiful and ageless. Tashia’s most poignant inspiration comes from her world travels. The influence of natural elements and the diversity of cultures and customs are expressed in her collections. Senn offers innovative designs with a unique twist, that women can call their own. “My goal is to fuse current trends and scenes of New York, Paris, London, and Washington, DC into my line.
